Our client is a highly regarded, scientifically-focused medical communications agency.  Due to recent business growth within their division, they have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Scientific Director to join their team. The core responsibility for this position is ensuring the highest level of technical accuracy for content developed in the area of oncology. While their offices are located in Yardley PA, you can work from your home office (if you are long distance) and travel to the office as needed for staff meetings and to collaborate on projects. This is a wonderful company to work for and they truly believe in maintaining a culture that advocates a healthy work-life balance.
 
Specific responsibilities would include:
  • Briefs contract/freelance writers on projects and coordinates and reviews work of contract writers as requested
  • Has final sign-off authority for projects on all assigned accounts
  • Reviews projects in assigned areas for technical accuracy, proper incorporation/interpretation of investigator/client data, and overall editorial quality
  • Responsible for the editorial component of assigned projects, including each of the following tasks:
    • Background reading/preparation
    • Literature searches
    • Reference identification and acquisition
    • Outline development
    • Writing/revision of assigned projects
    • Editing and checking revised manuscripts
    • Identification of/preparation of tables and figures for design/production
    • Reviewing finished deliverables at all stages of development for overall quality
    • Maintenance of data packages for each project, including appropriately underlined references, notes about project, correspondence, comments, etc.
  • Regularly attends status meetings and provides input to team on project status and constructive solutions to potential challenges
  • Communicates with authors and clients/participates in teleconferences when required on assigned projects and prepares meeting reports for team when appropriate
  • Effectively addresses author/client requests for information
  • Follows established Medical and Scientific Services procedures and editorial and style guidelines
  • Applies principles of good publication practice at all times
  • Keeps current on scientific literature in assigned therapeutic areas
 
Qualifications include:
  • Advanced life sciences degree required; MD, PhD, or PharmD
  • A minimum of 3 years’ agency experience with a focus on oncology is required; publication planning experience is also a must
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Desire to work in a collaborative team setting
  • Ability to thrive under challenging deadlines and in an energetic environment
